CPT Summer Picnic – A Beloved Tradition in a Beautiful New Spot!

Location: Irene Hernandez Picnic Area at Gompers Woods – 4222 W. Foster Ave.

Join us for a full day of friendship, fun, and food at this year’s CPT Summer Picnic, now at a gorgeous new location! We'll gather at the Irene Hernandez Picnic Area, a peaceful, wooded space within Gompers Woods. There's plenty of room to relax, explore, and enjoy the day your way—whether that means hiking the trails, taking advantage of the swimming pool, playing games, or just sharing stories with friends.

Here’s what to expect:

• Early arrival encouraged – we’ll have sweet snacks to kick things of starting at 10 am. Watch for the CPT flags and banner!

• Lunch at 2:00 PM – our delicious catered meal is expected to arrive around 1:30 PM. Last year’s favorites included Chicken Limone with Artichokes and Italian Beef Sandwiches from Moretti’s. This year’s menu will be announced soon!

• No electricity is available in the covered area, so please plan accordingly.

We’re asking each guest to pitch in by bringing a side dish, dessert, or essential supplies (like tablecloths or paper goods). Once you purchase your ticket, we will send you a sign up on the event coordinator's form to let us know what you’ll bring.

Parking & Transit Info:

• Free parking is available off Foster Avenue.

• The CTA #63 bus runs right by Gompers Woods and operates 24/7, with buses every 8–19 minutes.

Bonus Tips:

• Bring a lawn chair if you’d like to lounge in the sun.

• This is a rain-or-shine event—so come prepared for whatever the weather brings!

• We may take photos during the event for our newsletter, website, and social media. If you’d prefer not to appear in photos, just let us know.
