In 3670, a North Korean defector in Seoul quietly navigates two worlds: one shaped by exile and another by his awakening queer identity. Joonho Park’s feature debut is a moving, understated portrait of belonging and self-discovery, illuminating a rarely seen intersection of Korean life with grace, empathy, and cinematic restraint.

Cheol-jun, a young North Korean defector, has built a fragile new life in Seoul. To his fellow defectors, he’s a quiet, hardworking man—yet he conceals another truth: he’s gay. Living between fear and desire, he begins exploring Seoul’s underground queer community, where coded messages like “3670” (“Meet at Exit 6, Jongno 3-ga, 7 p.m.”) mark places of connection and refuge.

As Cheol-jun’s double life deepens, he struggles to reconcile the two versions of himself—the dutiful newcomer seeking acceptance and the man craving freedom and intimacy. Park’s patient, observational style transforms the ordinary—bus rides, casual chats, late-night walks—into moments of aching humanity.

Selected Reviews

Screen Anarchy:

“Fresh, vibrant, and deeply human… 3670 avoids melodrama, instead finding quiet power in the rhythms of everyday life and the courage to be seen.”

The Korea Times:

“Park turns a simple meeting code into a metaphor for visibility and belonging. 3670 is both intimate and political—one of the most empathetic portraits yet of queer life in modern Korea.”

Kaist455 Film Blog:

“Another remarkable Korean queer film—honest, restrained, and compassionate. Park Joonho’s direction recalls early Lee Chang-dong in its emotional precision.”

X-clusive.sg:

“A tender study of displacement and desire. Cho You-hyun delivers a career-defining performance as a man searching for home.”
