What if turning 80 didn’t mean losing your keys — or your mind?
The SuperAging Research Initiative studies people 80+ whose memory is so sharp it rivals folks in their 50s and 60s. (Yes, that means remembering names, stories… and exactly who said what at brunch in 1998.)
We’re thrilled to welcome Dr. Emily Rogalski, an internationally recognized neurologist and cognitive neuroscientist, as our guest speaker. Dr. Rogalski is the Rosalind Franklin Professor of Neurology and Director of the Healthy Aging & Alzheimer’s Care (HAARC) Center at the University of Chicago. She leads cutting-edge research on aging, Alzheimer’s, related dementias, and — most famously — the biology of “SuperAgers,” adults over 80 whose brains defy typical age-related decline.
Her work uses advanced brain imaging, genetics, behavioral science, and more to understand what makes some brains resilient and others vulnerable — with the ultimate goal of learning how to promote cognitive health for all of us as we age. In addition to her work on SuperAgers, Dr. Rogalski directs major studies on primary progressive aphasia (a rare form of dementia affecting language), helping shape new models of intervention and care.
If you’re interested in brain health, aging well, dodging Alzheimer’s, or simply planning to be sharp enough at 85 to run the group chat, this one’s for you. Come for the science. Stay for the hope. Leave remembering where you parked.
Join us for a fun night together with good food, good company, sparkling conversation, and a thought-provoking presentation that should be of interest to all of us.
