Join our very own Kevin Wood in an evening of song and patter addressing much more than just issues of gay pride! Meet us at The CheckOut, Chicago’s only chamber music venue in a former 7-Eleven.
Nationally known cabaret artisit KEVIN WOOD presents "More Pride, Less Prejudice," is a glitter-soaked, high-belt cabaret that tackles division the only sensible way: with big notes, bold laughs, and just enough shade to keep everyone honest. Joining him on the keys will be his music director, Beckie Menzie. This unapologetically campy evening takes on the things that turn us against each other — politics, labels, generational drama, social media outrage, and that one relative who “just has questions.” With a wink and a well-timed key change, the show skewers fear-based thinking while reminding us how fabulous it is to actually like ourselves — and maybe even each other. Along the way, we celebrate the places pride truly lives: in our chosen family, our resilience, our glitter-strewn survival, and our courage to grow louder, brighter, and more ourselves with age. Expect powerhouse vocals, sharp comedy, unexpected twists, and at least one number that makes you laugh before it sneaks up and hits you in the heart. Because prejudice may be loud — but pride has a better sound system.
